| Location description | Napa County Open Space & Park Department recently completed the purchase of a 673 acre ranch located on Chiles-Pope Canyon Rd. This land has been family owned and grazed for at least two generations and does not have an existing trail network, only ranch roads. V-O-Cal will bring our volunteer force out to do some extensive brushing on an old road alignment which will be intended to be a natural looking 4-6ft wide multi use trail. Additionally there is an unimproved trail which crosses the creek in several places which we will re-align to a more sustainable and enjoyable multi use path. This project will create several medium size retaining wall structures to adequately provide stable and sustainable alignments in several places. Planning is currently under way regarding the creek crossing and what if any crossing structures can effectively be built with volunteers. |
